Chinese Food encompasses so many different types of food, but to me, Brode's Best is Sichuan Impression.
What to order
If you don't like spicy food, don't go here; they have maybe 2 dishes that you could eat.
For the rest of us, Sichuan Impression is fucking glorious. My top dishes: Boiled Fish with Rattan Pepper, Toothpick Mutton, Twice Cooked Pork w/ Leek, and the Bamboo Shoots in Chili Oil.
I have also been known to enjoy their Impressive Dumplings and Mapo Tofu. I would avoid the Tea-Smoked ribs, despite how good they sound.
It took me several visits to get used to it, but now I enjoy the plum juice as well. It reminds me of Barbecue sauce, but as a beverage. Worth a try!
Honorable Mention
Another incredible Szechuan/Sichuan restaurant in Orange County, Chong Qing Mei Wei was my previous favorite before Sichuan Impression opened. Still a great experience, and they have some dishes that are an absolute must-try, like the cubed fried chicken and the cumin lamb.
